What is the VAFI & RAFI festival?

VAFI & RAFI has established itself as an unavoidable place on the map of world festivals, which once a year brings together small and large animators, their leaders,
professionals and experts in the field.

What are the categories of the festival?

The festival is divided into two sections – VAFI according to the age of the author and RAFI according to the age of the spectators.

The VAFI section is divided into categories according to the age of the author: VAFI MINI (up to 10 years of age), VAFI MIDI (from 11 to 14 years of age) and VAFI MAXI (from 15 to 18 years of age).

The RAFI section is divided into categories according to the age of the viewers, and professional animated films for children and youth compete: RAFI 0-6 (for children up to 6 years of age), RAFI 7-10 (for children from 7 to 10 years of age), RAFI 11-14 (for children 11 to 14 years of age) and RAFI 15-18 (for young people 15 to 18 years of age).

Who are the organizers of the festival?

The very idea of ​​founding the Festival arose from the desire to complete the activities of the Film and Creative Studio VANIMA, which, as the organizer of the festival, has been dealing with animated films with children and young people for more than 35 years.

Where is the festival held?

The festival consists of two parts, the RAFI section is held in Rijeka, and the VAFI section in Varaždin. Varaždin, one of the most beautiful and most developed cities in Croatia and the city of friends of children is the ideal host of such a festival in which the goal is to combine quality, knowledge, professionalism, socializing, fun, creation and creativity in perfect balance. On the other hand, in 2020 Rijeka held the title of European Capital of Culture and the festival aims to unite and develop the creativity of children and youth through the medium of film.
